Run The Bases

Saddleback Church’s purpose driven “run the
bases” discipleship model is diagrammed through the analogy of a
baseball ball diamond, developed by their founding pastor Rick Warren
(http://www.saddleback.com ). In this model of ministry and
maturity, people begin heading to first base through worship.
They reach first base by placing their faith in Christ and also
becoming a member of East Swamp Chruch. Going to second
base involves learning life-long habits for personal discipleship which
moves the individual toward spiritual maturity. Going to third
base involved getting to know your gifts so that you can use those
gifts and partner in a ministry in and around the church.
Finally, running to home plate involves getting involved in missions
outside of the church walls. This can include local missions
opportunities and possibly somewhere in the world outside of our
immediate geographic location. This is the clear and simple way
Saddleback has used for years to communicate their intentional
discipling process and what they hope for every person in their
congregation. This ball diamond with its four bases is simple
enough to be drawn on a napkin!
Since it is so simple and effective, we here
at East Swamp Church have adopted this model of ministry so that our
people can become all that God has planned for them. Consider
joining us in our corporate growth process in the days to come!
If you are interested, please contact the church office and we can help
you begin or continue your journey of maturity in Christ.
